Development and characterization of redox active components for high temperature solid state batteries
The growing demand in clean and renewable energy sources leads to increased demand in energy storage systems. Within the HI MS we strive to improve existing systems and develop new ones. Our main focus is the Rechargeable Oxide-Ion Battery (ROB), which is a design for long term energy storage. First works are based on Fe – Fe2O3 show that the concept works. Our research hopes to improve this system and explore new possibilities (materials and concepts for energy storage), with the help of experimental work and simulations using finite element method (FEM). Relevant aspects for the design are long term stability, high energy density, and low material costs.
